After spending more than a decade honing my craft as a singer, songwriter and musical theater actress, I found myself at a crossroads when I was suddenly laid-off from my job during the '08 housing crisis. Instead of pursuing another role, my family and I decided to band together to launch a faith-based music and media company. I began writing and recording music in the corner of my mother's dining room, and within one year of taking the leap of faith, we successfully built the passion project into: a debut album, national television appearances, a music licensing deal, and content production relationships with WEtv and Lifetime network. In navigating our journey, I unlocked a new level. One where your personal story and individuality is the catalyst for going from unknown to notable. God gets all the glory for my story. I released my debut album in 2011 on my family-owned music label in partnership with 3 others, Tammy Westbrook, Azumi Baba Ndanani, and Ladan Baba Ndanani. Each with our own skill set, we shared a collective mission to build a faith-based multimedia company.
As a singer-songwriter my lyrics and vocals flow where the gospel, soul and jazz genres meet. My album showcases a bold take on inspirational music. Listen to my power ballad "I Deserve More" here! In 2011 when I wrote and recorded an album in the corner of my mother's dining room, we did it with zero dollars and zero connections. Although I was a formally-trained musical theater actress, I hadn't been a publicist. But after creating what I thought was the next big thing in R&B, I quickly realized I needed to get our creation out to the world. So, I became my own publicist 🙌🏿. Prior to this I didn't know that you could tap into the power of publicity to propel your work into the spotlight. But, in successfully navigating my own journey, I unlocked a new level. One where your personal story and individuality is the catalyst for going from unknown to notable. As I honed my skills at lightning speed, I became a vault for all things marketing, visibility and communications. I learned in the best way possible - by doing - and in one year's time I successfully:
My music and message was seen, heard and sought after by millions! In the process I discovered the biggest barriers keeping creators of every kind stuck in low visibility: lack of compelling messaging, lack of strategy in communication, and lack of clarity of their unique value. Once people saw me on their screens, I became an example of what was possible for them.

MUSICWhen Tenin first began her recording journey by writing and recording music in the corner of her mother's dining room, she banded together with her family to fully fund and release the project on her family-owned media imprint. In a year's time, the album debuted with multiple national television appearances, a music licensing contract, and production relationships with WEtv and Lifetime networks.
Tenin's God-given talents have paved the way to musical collaborations of all genres, including songwriting for members of the Fugees, Danity Kane, TLC, BoA, new artists signed to Akon's Konvict Entertainment and others. She performed at the 60th annual Grammy awards with Sam Smith, and has appeared on FOX, TLC and Oxygen networks in hit series American Idol and Jersey Couture. Tenin has also held over two-dozen lead roles in mainstage musicals. SPEAKINGTenin is a lively and uplifting speaker who uses all aspects of her platform to educate, encourage and equip people with proven strategies.
